Extra class safety brakes
High torque, compact and long lifetime
Safety brakes by Miki Pulley
Due to the Japanese origin and the market requirements prevailing there, Miki Pulley has focused on small and medium sizes in the field of spring-actuated safety brakes. In this segment we offer a wide range of different safety brakes for your application.
Special designs in terms of mounting options or different holding and braking torques can also be realized on customer request.
What are spring-actuated safety brakes and what is their function?
In general, all safety brakes are spring-actuated power-off brakes, also called spring-applied brakes or spring-operated brakes. This means that the coil permanently generates a magnetic field with very low power consumption and keep the brake “open”. In the event of a power failure or a desired emergency stop, the armature plate is pressed against the friction lining by spring force within splits of a second, stopping any movement of the rotating shaft. Spring-actuated safety brakes are in the closed state when they are not energized.
Their function is to stop or brake machines and equipment when needed or in emergencies. For example, if the power supply is suddenly interrupted due to a malfunction in a working platform, the platform may fall down. By using a safety brake, this can be prevented by blocking the drive shaft.
What characterizes Miki Pulley's safety brakes?
Starting with our smallest safety brake, the BXR-10LE, through the highly variable BXW series to the BXR or BXL, we cover holding and braking torques from 0.06 Nm up to 80 Nm. As a manufacturer of these brakes, we are able to meet almost any customer requirement. Whether this is an increase in the desired holding or braking torque, mounting options or just an extension of the connection cable. The application possibilities are almost limitless.
Due to the safety guidelines in DIN ISO 13849-1, safety brakes have become a must in many applications to ensure the safety of man and machine.
The coil and brake are tested by Miki Pulley and the brake is run in at the factory. The customer therefore has the advantage of no longer having to run in our safety brake, saving time and money.
What mounting options and special features are available for safety brakes?
Depending on the model, the safety brake can be mounted via the stator or via the plate. Other customized mounting types or centering options are available on request.
Furthermore, many safety brakes have a mechanism to minimize noise. Many options are also possible here on customer request.
What are the specifications for spring-actuated brakes?
The most important specifications for a spring-actuated safety brake are torque, rotation speed (revolutions per minute) and input voltage. Depending on the size of the installation space, the size of the spring-applied brake can also play a decisive role in the selection.
The BXR-LE safety brake is particularly suitable for very small installation spaces. If a particularly slim design is required, the safety brakes of the BXR series stands out here, which has an installation depth that requires only half as much space as a conventional safety brake.
Where are Miki Pulley safety brakes used?
Due to the space-saving design and a very low weight, our products are often used in mobile applications such as industrial trucks, rolling gate drives, robots, electric wheelchairs, AGV & AMR, and senior vehicles. The BXW, BXR-LE, BXR(LE), BXR, BXH, BXL and BXL-N series are available.
